How to deal with the heat?
In hot weather, a car can cause serious damage, since many things have already been created, and many things have been scattered. We decided to check out a few of them, such as those that should limit the heating of the cabin, the tretrena talydek, and the talydekotreke.
How to drive a car in hot weather? How to prevent it from overheating?
An hour in the sun.
In summer, the car heats up quickly, so it can be very hot inside in the sun. We've checked it out. We left the Fiat Tipo in the sun for only an hour, at an ambient temperature of 28.5 degrees Celsius, and after returning, the temperature inside was... 41 degrees!
In addition, we measured individual elements - the armrest - 40.7 degrees, the gearshift lever - 41.1 degrees, the steering wheel - 38.6 degrees.
This only confirms how dangerous it is to leave children and pets in a locked car in hot weather. Even "for a moment", because in an hour it is enough for the car in the cabin to heat up to more than 40 degrees. When the body temperature reaches this temperature in just 15 minutes, heat stroke and damage to internal organs can occur. The animals can't stand it either. Remember, next time we want to "pop out" to the store. It can always turn out that there are long queues at the checkout, we want to do something else along the way, and time is running out. A car left in the sun can be a death trap for a passenger.
How can I limit the heating of the car interior in hot weather?
You might think that tilting the window will help. It sounds logical, because warm air flows upward and should leave through a softly lowered window. Of course, at very high temperatures and full sun, this will not maintain the temperature previously observed on the air conditioner, but the car should at least warm up more slowly.
The benchmark for heating is the previous measurement of the Fiat Tipo - 41 degrees in an hour.
They also decided to leave the Audi A7 with the windows open so that no one could get inside. An hour later, the temperature inside was 50 degrees! As with the Fiat Tipo, we measured individual elements inside the car left in the sun. Their value was 47.4 degrees for the armrest, 46.6 degrees for the aluminum central tunnel, 51.9 degrees for the gearshift lever, and 47.6 degrees for the steering wheel.
Despite the slanted windows, the figures were much higher than in the Fiat Tipo. The Fiat is white and the Audi is black. It's not for nothing that many of the cars that we drive through the streets in warm countries are white. Light colors reflect the sun's rays better, so choosing a light paint can also be considered a method of combating overheating of the machine.
To protect the interior of the car from heat, some people use mats with reflective film. This also makes sense, at least theoretically. Most of the sunlight enters the car through the windshield. If we use such a foil to reflect them, the interior space could heat up more slowly. This is also an idea from warm countries - on vacation it is very common to see cars parked in the sun with such mats.
However, let's check how effective this solution is. We put a mat on the windshield of a black Volkswagen Touareg. An hour later, the cabin temperature was 34 degrees Celsius. Temperature of the elements: 37.2 degrees - armrest, 32.7 degrees - aluminum central tunnel, 35.6 degrees - gearshift lever, 35.7 degrees - steering wheel. This proves that reflective mats make sense and should be installed in a car in hot weather. However, it is worth noting that the Touareg used for measuring also has double glazing.
However, there is a third and most obvious way to protect your car from the heat. We can just... park in the shade. When the car is not in direct sunlight, the interior will probably warm up much more slowly.
How to cool the interior quickly?
Even when we use solutions that limit the heating of the interior, temperatures in the car may still not be very pleasant in summer. So how do you quickly cool the car interior in hot weather?
The first method is probably the most popular - close the car windows and turn on the air conditioner with maximum force and closed circulation. In the Touareg, after 10 minutes, the temperature dropped to 25 degrees, which means it dropped by 9 degrees. After 20 minutes, the interior of the car has already reached 20 degrees, which is 14 less.
Another way to protect a car in hot weather also involves maximum air flow, but with the windows open. So we tried to cool the Fiat Tipo interior. After 10 minutes, the temperature dropped by 11 degrees to 30 degrees. After 20 minutes - by 16 degrees to 25 degrees.
However, the above methods require starting the engine, which means that we need to get into a hot car for a while. However, we can try to cool the interior of the car without getting in it. We could just try to open all the doors and windows and wait - but will the temperature drop fast enough for us to make it in time? Probably not - after 10 minutes of waiting, the temperature in the Audi was only 6 degrees lower, so the cabin still reached an unbearably high temperature (44 degrees).
You may have heard of "fan" doors. This method of cooling a car in hot weather involves opening the window on one side and opening and closing the door on the other - they serve as a "fan". There is a scientific justification for this - in this way we create a low pressure that draws in warm air from the inside and draws in cooler air from the outside.
We decided to warm up the Audi to test the effectiveness of this method. This time, the interior warmed up to 48 degrees. Measurements taken after 10 minutes of opening the doors showed a 4 degree drop in the temperature inside the car.
Resume.
There are many ways to reduce the interior heating and cool the car faster in the heat. Light colors, window sills, and - for faster cooling - turn on the air conditioner with internal circulation. Using these ideas, we can reduce the heat exposure and make the car less problematic in summer.
Especially remember that children and pets should not be left in the car in hot weather. No matter what method we use, the interior still heats up, and staying in such a "microclimate" for too long can turn into a tragedy. Understanding bonus conditions is crucial for every bettor. A large number on a banner means nothing if you cannot withdraw the funds. We recommend searching for low wagering requirements betting welcome bonus offers specifically. These are often hidden among the flashy promotions. A standard 500% bonus might require 35x turnover, but a 100% bonus with 5x turnover is easier to clear.
